Des Plaines is a city in Cook County and has a population of 58032 according to the 2010 census. It is a suburb in the Chicago metropolitan area and is north of the O’Hare airport. Des Plaines is located along the Des Plaines River which runs through the city on the eastern end. Interstate 90 passes through the city alongside interstate 294. Interstate 294 is a tolled auxiliary interstate highway and passes through the northern side of Illinois. Other major routes passing through the city include the US 12, 45 and 14. The Illinois Route 83 which is 91 miles long passes through Des Plaines.
