The Volkswagen Passat is a large family car that has been in the Germans manufacturers’ line up since 1973. It has traded under several nameplates, including Dasher, Quantum, Magotan, and Santana. The different generations of the Volkswagen Passat bear the internal designation of B1, B2, etc. In 2008 the manufacturer produced the Passat CC, a four-door model of the Volkswagen Passat. The company currently has two Volkswagen Passat being marketed globally. In January 2011, the company announced that the new mid-size sedan that was produced at the Volkswagen Chattanooga Assembly Plant would be named the Passat. Volkswagen’s Nanjing, Shanghai, also produces the new mid-size sedan.
